Mini-assessment

Definition

An assessment directed at less mature MFIs including an analysis of the risk profile and performance, especially in preparation for a full rating exercise. The analysis structure is similar to the microfinance rating, with the difference that the Mini-assessment has a smoother and faster realization process, a stronger qualitative focus, more appropriate for small institutions, and a different grading scale

Types of assessed institutions

Small and/or young MFIs (such as MF projects, NGOs, Cooperative Societies, SACCOs, small rural banks, etc.) often being part of a multi-tier organization system (cooperatives, village banks, etc).
