MFR conducting Institutional Diagnostics in Swaziland

MicroFinanza Rating has been commissioned by the Government of Swaziland (GoS) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) to carry out Institutional Diagnostics of Swazi MFIs within the framework of the "Rural Finance and Enterprise Development Programme (RFEDP)". The goal of the Programme is to reduce poverty and contribute to the overall economic development of poor rural households in Swaziland. This will be achieved by increasing access to sustainable rural financial services for the rural poor and by developing the micro and small enterprise sector as well as business opportunities in rural areas. Through the performance of Institutional Diagnostics, MFR analysts will identify the technical, governance and operational limitations, which Swazi MFIs are currently facing due to the un-favourable macro-economic context and will further provide a clear action plan to be followed by the RFEDP. Possible interventions to be taken will focus on the institutional development and capacity building of the MFIs.

Global Microfinance Ratings Comparability

MicroFinanza Rating, in collaboration with the other specialized microfinance ratings agencies, contributed to develop a common financial rating product name and specialized microfinance ratings comparability table. Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF) initiated and funded the collaboration to address specialized microfinance rating industry needs. Download the publication.

Rating of Cooperative Credit Banks in Italy

MicroFinanza Rating has successfully completed the Assessment of the Cooperative Bank Mediocrati within the Joint Action to Support Microfinance Institutions in Europe (JASMINE) financed by the EU and managed by the European Investment Fund (EIF). Mediocrati is the first Italian Bank accessing a senior loan (EUR 3m in Q4 2012) issued within the European Progress Microfinance Facility (established in 2010 with EUR 200m of funding from EC and EIF).
