Pre-Certification

Definition

Pre-Certification is a certifier independent analysis of the gaps which need to be filled so that the financial institutions' policies and practices fully comply with the Client Protection Certification norms. The objective of the Pre-certification is to increase the likelihood of successfully passing a subsequent Certification. To do so, the Pre-certification helps aligning the internal policies and practices to the certification norms.

MicroFinanza Rating offers the possibility to carry out the SPI4 audit and SPI4 ALINUS in combination with Social Ratings. MicroFinanza Rating was qualified by CERISE in February 2016, having successfully completed the qualification process. A SPI4 or SPI4 ALINUS conducted by a specialized rating agency offers the highest level of quality among the different types of SPI4 assessments.

Definition

The European Code of Good Conduct (CoGC) has been developed by the European Commission with the objective of setting out standards in terms of operations and reporting, that are common to the microcredit sector in the European Union.The Code provides guidelines to better enable the sector to face the challenges of accessing long-term finance and provide good practice guidelines on the basis of which microcredit provider managers and boards can take actions to enhance their organizations.

To be able to benefit from an EaSI Microfinance Guarantee or EaSI Technical Assistance, non-bank microcredit providers have to sign up to the Code and banks have to endorse it.
