Microfinanza Rating secures pioneering ratings package initiative in Russia
Microfinanza Rating, an industry leader in specialized microfinance ratings in NIS countries and Russia, has recently secured a pioneering ratings package of 13 rural credit cooperatives.
The initiative, which is the first exercise of massive rating for rural cooperatives in Russia, began in April 2007. The Microfinanza ratings package, consisting of 10 first-tier cooperatives and 3 second-tier cooperatives from diverse regions of the Russian Republic, is an invaluable opportunity to examine the state of Russian rural cooperatives while concurrently creating benchmarks and strengthening the cooperatives system.
The ratings packet is a continuation of Microfinanza Ratings already established work in Russia. Past experiences include 10 ratings and assessments of the main Russian microfinance service providers including the Fora Fund, RCCDF and CEF. Microfinanza Ratings past ratings have helped to both increase the transparency of the Russian microfinance sector and facilitate access to sustainable funding sources for the rated institutions.
